Maison A. Paret

“ I have a deep attachment in this vineyard. It is one of the first vines I planted. As the years went by, I realize it contained a buried treasure, which only asked to be reborn.”

Only quality pays off, we must not disappoint anybody. Every time, we must be better. Created by Alain Paret in 1972, the estate is located in the heart of the Rhône Valley. Alain planted varietals of Syrah and Viognier, typical of the area. Over the years, he improved his working methods and managed to provide products of high quality for all his wines. His son Anthony, joins the estate in 1999 to work with him.
The first planting of the Maison PARET on SEYSSUEL, took place in 2000. Alain, Anthony and a friend (Laurent Dumont) took part of the rebirth of the vineyard. At present, two wines are produced on the estate :
  • The SERINAE, which has the special feature to put together varietals of Serine and Viognier in co plantation, as usual on the other side of bank.
  • The SUBLINAE, mono varietal Serine, produce on the plateau.

The vintages

SUBLINAE

• The Vineyards
Grape variety: 100% Syrah
Terroir: Seyssuel, mica, schist, hard schist covered with iron oxide.
Viticulture: Yield of 20 to 25 hl/ha; use of organic fertilisers only. Controlled leaf treatments. No acaricides or insecticides are used. All harvesting by hand, with selection.

• In the Cellar
Vinification: in controlled temperatures. Use of rack and return. Long fermentation, over 25 days, carried out in oak vats. Grapes entirely destemmed. Without yeast.
Maturing: only in new oak barrels, on fine lees, for around 12 months. All the handling, up to the bottling stage, is coordinated with the lunar calendar. No filtration. A slight tannic deposit may appear as the wine ages, but does not affect the wine. A wine for laying down, reaching its peak after about 10 years.

Terroir: Seyssuel, mica, schist, hard schist covered with iron oxide
Viticulture: Yield of 20 to 25 hl/ha; use of organic fertilisers only. Controlled leaf treatments. No acaricides or insecticides are used. All harvesting by hand, with selection.
